Cattle Egret, a species new to Northern Ireland

On the 25th October 2011, Joe Lamont found a Cattle Egret at Kinnegar Shore, Belfast. The bird was seen by many different birders that day. The bird frequented the shoreline as well as the nearby freshwater pool. It was only reported for the one day.

On the 22nd November, a Cattle Egret was found by Jason Starbuck and Drew Middleton on the wooded island at Hillsborough Lake. It is possible that these records could be the same bird.
